The Depot Operative (Consignment Site) is responsible for the safe receipt, storage, handling, reconciliation, and control of petroleum products at customer consignment sites. The role ensures inventory accuracy, compliance with operational procedures, and adherence to HSSEQ standards while maintaining reliable product availability. The incumbent supports efficient depot operations through accurate stock reconciliation, verification of deliveries, investigation of stock variances, and effective coordination with internal teams and customer representatives.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Receive and offload petroleum products safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Conduct daily stock reconciliation for all storage tanks and inventory.
  • Verify product deliveries against delivery documentation and approved quantities.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and inventory documentation.
  • Monitor stock levels and promptly report replenishment requirements.
  • Investigate, document, and report stock variances in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support transit loss monitoring and reconciliation.
  • Maintain compliance with HSSEQ, operational, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with Supply & Distribution teams to prevent stock-outs.
  • Ensure housekeeping and operational readiness of the consignment site.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Operations, or a related field is an added advantage.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in depot operations, warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, or petroleum operations.
  • Experience working at fuel depots, terminals, or customer consignment sites is desirable.
  • Experience in stock reconciliation and inventory management.
  • Basic knowledge of petroleum product handling and storage.

  • Accurate daily stock reconciliation with minimal inventory variances.
  • Continuous product availability with zero avoidable stock-outs.
  • Safe receipt, storage, and handling of petroleum products.

Working Environment

Exposure to outdoor working conditions, rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays where operationally required. Close collaboration with customer representatives, logistics personnel, transport contractors, and operational teams.
