Background
Pinnacle Security Ltd (PSL) is a wholly Ugandan owned company that is involved in the provision of bespoke security, risk management, firefighting, and emergency response services in the East African region. PSL hereby invites suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions in the Fire Fighting Services and Emergency Response Department.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire and Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team in the oil and gas sector. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and preparedness of our operations in the field and throughout our Clients’ facilities. The Ideal candidate will lead emergency response planning, conduct risk assessments, and enhance our fire safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain fire, oil spill and other emergency response plans in alignment with industry regulations and best practices.
- Conduct regular training sessions and drills to ensure staff readiness and compliance with emergency protocols.
- Collaborate with safety, operations, and management teams to assess hazards and address potential risks in consultation with the Client.
- Lead investigations into fire incidents, oil spill and other emergency responses and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports of training, drills, incidents, and safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with local fire departments, external agencies or emergency services and relevant authorities to promote effective communication and response strategies.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in fire and emergency response within the oil and gas industry.
- Monitor compliance with fire safety regulations and standards within the oil and gas sector.
- Respond to fire-related incidents and emergencies, providing support and guidance.
- Conduct audits and inspections on procedures, Personal Protective Equipment, and other equipment to ensure they meet relevant standards and are in good working condition.
- Minimize equipment downtime by ensuring that equipment maintenance services are done and that records are maintained.
- Ensure readiness of emergency operations facilities, equipment and materials (e.g. PPE), and personnel at all times.
- Report all incidents as soon as they occur and ensure that investigations are done and actions put in place to avoid reoccurrence.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Project Manager and the Client as and when required.
- Oversee the overall operation of the firefighting team in the field.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in fire science, HSE management, emergency management, or related field.
- Proven experience in fire safety and emergency management.
- Strong understanding of fire regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Minimum of 10 years' working experience as a fire fighter and emergency response team leader.
- Must be physically fit and will be required to present a medical fitness certificate.
- Must have knowledge of operation of fire trucks and other firefighting and emergency response equipment.
- Certification in CPR, first aid, and fire safety management will be an added advantage.
