Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Human Resource Business Partner-Namanve and Masaka to work in a truly global environment to implement HR policies, initiatives and functions in Namanve and Masaka. The role focuses on HR operations, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, engagement, and supporting the HRBP in ensuring smooth HR service delivery. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment. The role reports directly to the HRBP Uganda and Ethiopia.

Key Accountabilities

a. HR Operations

Onboarding and Induction

  • Coordinate onboarding of new employees, including preparation and issuance of employment contracts, HR handbook, and related documentation.
  • Liaise with Central Operations to ensure timely system for onboarding and offboarding, while maintaining accurate hard-copy personnel files at the Namanve office.
  • Work closely with IT and relevant departments to ensure all work tools, system access, and resources are available prior to or upon employee start date.
  • Lead staff induction sessions and follow up to ensure successful completion of the induction programme.
  • Conduct new joiner surveys after one month of employment.
  • Follow up with Line Managers to ensure probationary reviews are completed within agreed timelines.

Employee relations and engagement

  • Strengthen employee voice mechanisms and promote continuous engagement with Line Managers and employees.
  • Provide frontline HR support to employees and supervisors on HR-related queries and concerns.
  • Support internal communication and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure monthly departmental meetings are conducted for Namanve and Masaka teams, document minutes, and track closure of action plans.
  • Process and manage right-to-work documentation for expatriates.

Compensation & Benefits Support

  • Liaise with insurance service providers to ensure timely processing of employee benefits, including medical insurance, GPA, and GLA.
  • Maintain records and logs of occupational injuries to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Advise employees on compensation and benefits matters and resolve related issues promptly.

b. Business Partnering

  • Advise Line Managers on employee relations, policy interpretation, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution.
  • Support Line Managers on workforce optimization, role clarity, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure timely completion of performance reviews in line with KCL performance management guidelines.
  • Track performance development actions and report on progress and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and administer monthly employee reward and recognition programmes for Namanve and Masaka locations.
  • Monitor implementation of the training calendar and evaluate training effectiveness.

Compliance & Policy Implementation

  • Ensure adherence to HR policies, labor laws, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Support internal and external HR audits and implement agreed corrective actions.

Reporting

  • Prepare and share monthly HR reports covering absenteeism, turnover, productivity, leave utilization, overtime, and headcount.
  • Analyze trends, provide recommendations, and support management decision-making.
  • Consolidate employee feedback from meetings and track agreed actions to closure

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g. IHRM, CIPD) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a multi-site or operational environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced labour relations and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent coaching, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • High analytical capability with experience using HR data for decision-making.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Labor laws and HR best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills
  • Ability to partner effectively with Line Managers
  • Data-driven and solution-oriented mindset
