Description
Mota-Engil is hiring a Lifting Coordinator responsible for overseeing all lifting operations on the project to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Dimension load lifting accessories (e.g., beads, shackles, chains) and create/update load schematics using AutoCAD.
- Accurately calculate loads and interpret load diagrams to ensure safe lifting operations.
- Coordinate and supervise all lifting activities according to the approved lifting plan.
- Ensure that only registered and appointed crane operators, certified signalers, and riggers are involved in lifting operations.
- Verify that ground conditions are suitable and safe for lifting operations and that crane operators perform daily checks of their equipment before shifts.
- Brief crane operators, riggers, and signalmen on safe lifting procedures and ensure they adhere to these protocols.
- Validate the validity of lifting machine certificates and maintenance inspection programs.
- Ensure adherence to safe lifting procedures and take corrective measures for any unsafe conditions, ensuring all necessary precautions are in place.
- Attend daily toolbox meetings for effective consultation, communication, and coordination before the commencement of work.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and the company’s Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHEQ) policies and procedures.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering or related from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the oil and gas or civil construction industry, with a proven track record in lifting operations.
- Completion of a Lifting Supervisors Safety course, or equivalent is a MUST.
- Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (APLO) certification, as required by relevant regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in load planning, lifting equipment selection, and risk assessment.
- Hands-on experience in supervising the lifting Team and coordinating lifting activities.
- Successful completion of a recognized Rigging and Signalman course.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the lifting, Team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in load calculation software and AutoCAD or similar design software.
