The LPG Filling Plant Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant supervision of daily LPG filling plant and depot yard operations. The role ensures the integrity of product receipt, storage, filling, loading, stock control, and traffic management while maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, Quality, and Environment (HSSEQ). The incumbent leads frontline operational teams, safeguards depot assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and delivers operational excellence through effective supervision, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Supervise safe receipt, discharge, storage, filling, and loading of LPG and petroleum products.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with approved operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor daily filling plant throughput to achieve operational efficiency targets.
  • Ensure operational continuity through effective supervision and workforce coordination.
  • Coordinate vehicle movements within the depot to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
  • Enforce depot traffic management procedures and access controls.
  • Monitor compliance with loading, parking, and vehicle staging procedures.
  • Maintain accurate stock accountability throughout product handling operations.
  • Safeguard stock through effective seal, valve, and key management.
  • Monitor and investigate stock variances, product losses, or contamination risks.
  • Maintain complete operational records supporting inventory audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Vivo Energy HSSEQ standards and Goal Zero objectives.
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and operational risk assessments.
  • Coordinate first-line emergency response activities.
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor operational readiness of filling plant equipment.
  • Report equipment defects and coordinate corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure depot assets are protected and maintained in operational condition.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop filling plant operators.
  • Promote operational discipline and adherence to procedures.
  • Monitor workforce performance and recommend improvements.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor's Degree in: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration Or a related discipline.
  • Professional HSSEQ, LPG Operations, or Depot Operations certifications are an added advantage.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in LPG, petroleum depot, terminal, bulk fuel, or industrial operations.
  • At least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience supervising LPG filling operations.
  • Experience in stock control and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience in emergency response and incident management.
  • Experience managing contractors and transport operations is desirable.
