The Need

For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people globally from violence by 2030, we are seeking to recruit a Program Partnership Specialist Rwenzori Region based in Fort Portal.

Job Summary: The program partnership specialist supports the implementation of justice system strengthening initiatives, advising and guiding partners and government actors. This role conducts coordination and capacity-building activities to sustain engagement and improve responses to protection programs and related justice issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate district-level justice system needs and advise on partner engagement strategies.
  • Guide the development and delivery of training and support tools for partners and government stakeholders.
  • Organize coordination efforts across districts to ensure consistent application of protection models.
  • Identify systemic gaps and recommend improvements to enhance justice system responses.
  • Conduct oversight of programmatic activities to support learning and delivery outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Ability to guide and advise partners and government actors in applying tools and approaches that support justice system improvements.
  • Skills to organize and oversee program activities, including basic budget tracking and operational coordination.
  • Capacity to evaluate field data and determine areas for program enhancement.
  • Effective communication to engage stakeholders and sustain collaborative relationships.
  • Experience in conducting training sessions and supporting the use of casework tools and resources.

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in program management, social sciences, Law, business administration, management, or a similar field preferred).
  • A minimum of Seven (7) years’ experience in delivering justice and or development programs with a particular focus on VAWC. With a minimum of three (3) years leading teams.
  • Experience working in a professional international environment preferred.
  • Experience leading and managing teams in a multidisciplinary setting to produce required results.
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying training needs, developing training materials and delivering trainings with sustainable impact.
  • Capacity and demonstrable experience in developing activity plans and measuring their successful implementation.
  • Fluency in the English language both written and spoken is mandatory. Working knowledge of local languages added advantage.
  • Experience in supervision and mentorship is an added advantage.
  • Excellent computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative, critical thinking, legal analysis and oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driving license with a clean record.

Critical Qualities:

  • Mature Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices for delivering programs that prevent or provide effective responses to VAWC
  • Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of the public justice system at a national and a local level in Uganda.
  • Understanding of trauma informed approaches and of the needs of survivors of VAWC
