The Need

For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people globally from violence by 2030, we are seeking to recruit a Program Support Specialist based in Kampala.

Job Summary: The Program Support Specialist guides the development and implementation of programs to strengthen the justice system and support community engagement initiatives. This role supports the development of systems that promote sustainable impact and organizational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate justice system gaps and community needs to inform strategic interventions and program design.
• Advise and recommend strategies for developing partnerships, operational frameworks, and capacity-building initiatives that enhance service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
• Conduct research and data analysis to identify trends, generate insights, and recommend improvements for program delivery.
• Organize and supervise training workshops, events, and communication plans to strengthen justice responses and promote survivor-centered approaches.
• Identify and anticipate opportunities for program improvement through data analysis, stakeholder feedback, and iterative design processes.

Requirements:

• Skills to organize and advise partners and government actors in applying tools and approaches that support justice system improvements.
• Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, capable of advising diverse stakeholders, organizing training sessions, and sustaining engagement through clear, targeted messaging and materials.
• Effective communication and training skills to explain concepts clearly, advise teams, and build awareness around justice system strengthening, survivor support, or community engagement.
• Capacity to manage and drive multifaceted projects and initiatives with excellence, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
• Ability to implement systems, processes, or frameworks that enhance team performance, operational efficiency, and impact measurement.

Education & Experience:

• A degree in program management, social sciences, Law, business administration, management, or a similar field preferred).
• A minimum of Eight (8) years’ experience in delivering justice and or development programs with a particular focus on VAWC. With a minimum of three (3) years leading teams.
• Experience working in a professional international environment preferred.
• Experience leading and managing teams in a multidisciplinary setting to produce required results.
• Demonstrable experience in identifying training needs, developing training materials and delivering trainings with sustainable impact.
• Capacity and demonstrable experience in developing activity plans and measuring their successful implementation.
• Fluency in the English language both written and spoken is mandatory.
• Experience in supervision and mentorship is an added advantage.
• Excellent computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Excellent organizational and administrative, critical thinking, legal analysis and oral and written communication skills.

Critical Qualities:

• Mature Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed.
• Knowledge and understanding of best practices for delivering programs that prevent or provide effective responses to VAWC
• Knowledge and understanding of the functioning of the public justice system at a national and a local level in Uganda.
• Understanding of trauma informed approaches and of the needs of survivors of VAWC
