Job Title: Relationship Manager – Oil & Gas and Energy
Reports To: Sector Head
Type of work done by staff (operational role vs. specialist role): This is an operational role.
Job Purpose:
- The Relationship Manager will work with the Sector Head to develop and grow the Oil and Gas and Energy business. The Relationship Manager will manage a portfolio of existing clients, identify new business opportunities, and provide tailored financial solutions to meet the needs of companies operating in these sectors.
- Responsible for managing assigned corporate relationships within business segments through origination in line with targets and expectations. The Relationship Manager will be responsible for offering the best customer experience to the assigned clientele to ensure retention and growth of business through deeper understanding of the client’s business and operations to enable the Bank increase its share of wallet by meeting the client’s business needs.
Responsibilities / Key Deliverables:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their business needs and providing financial solutions to support their growth.
- Identify new business opportunities, including new entrants, expansions, and projects in the Energy sector.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on financial products and services, beneficial partnerships and cash management solutions.
- Conduct financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and due diligence on potential clients and transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery of financial solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes impacting the Energy sector.
Financial Responsibility:
- Achieve balance sheet growth targets (assets & liabilities).
- Achieve income (interest & non-interest) targets.
- Achieve electronic banking enrolment targets.
- Achieve portfolio quality targets.
- Achievement of sector targets for product launches/enhancements.
- Achieve off-balance sheet targets.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or professional certification is an added advantage.
- Skills in Sales, Credit & Relationship Management will be an added advantage.
- Track record in sales management.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate banking or a related field, with a focus on relationship management and sales in Oil, Gas and Energy.
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan Oil and Gas and Energy sectors, including market trends and key players.
- Relevant business experience and acumen.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
- Proven track record of business growth and achievement of sales targets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, and a good team player able to work under minimum supervision—self-drive and initiative.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills.

- New business acquisition and revenue generation
- Credit quality and risk management
