Company Overview:

Our client is a leading player in Uganda’s automotive and mobility sector, with a strong presence in the motorcycle market. The organization specializes in the distribution and retail of motorcycles, spare parts, after-sales services, and local motorcycle assembly, supported by a growing branch and distribution network across Uganda.

Position Overview:

The Retail & Operations Head will have full accountability for the retail and operations P&L across the branch network. The role will be responsible for driving sales and growth, overseeing branch operations, and leading the field and marketing teams to deliver the national number. The position will provide strong commercial and operational leadership across the network, ensuring consistent branch performance, stock availability, customer experience, and profitability.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Hold full accountability for the retail and operations P&L across all branches, covering bikes, genuine parts, and service revenue.
  • Manage the Regional Managers / Cluster Heads, set regional targets, and hold them accountable for delivery.
  • Drive sales and growth through pricing, promotions, throughput, and market-share expansion across the network.
  • Own branch operations, including standards, SOP compliance, stock discipline, and the in-branch customer experience.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives across the branches, including in-branch experience, branding, and promotions, in partnership with the Trade Marketing team.
  • Ensure the appropriate stock is available in branches to prevent stock-outs and support uninterrupted sales.
  • Monitor branch and regional performance, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions to improve commercial and operational results.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Service Heads to ensure alignment between sales, customer experience, marketing, and after-sales performance.
  • Identify opportunities for market expansion, improved branch productivity, and increased revenue across the network.
  • Report performance and P&L to the Group CEO on a fixed monthly cadence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 8–12 years of experience in retail, distribution, or multi-branch operations leadership, ideally within automotive, FMCG, or consumer durables in East Africa.
  • Proven track record of owning a sales P&L and managing a regional field structure, with strong capabilities in operations, target management, and people management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing regional or geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong commercial, operational, and financial acumen, with the ability to drive performance across a multi-branch network.
  • Experience in the generator / power-equipment industry is an added advantage, as the role may also oversee the ring-fenced generator business.
  • The Marketing Head, Service Head, and Regional Managers will report directly to this position.
