Makerere University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for various academic, administrative, and support staff positions.
Job Purpose
Assist in formulating, reviewing and maintaining standard operating procedures for use in the workplace (Laboratories).
Responsibilities or duties
- Generate reports, inventories and orders in the Unit;
- Generate budgets and account for use of physical resources of the Unit
- Manage the use of laboratory equipment and facilities;
- Compile reports and inventories;
- Requisition, maintain and account for financial and other resources;
- Prepare and supervise students’ practicals;
- Liaise with and provide support to the academic staff in the teaching of practicals;
- Participate in research to inform best practices in the Department;
- Implement and maintain guidelines and regulations to ensure quality assurance, control and safety in unit;
- Induct and mentor junior staff in the unit on technical skills;
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications or requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Laboratory Technology
- Customer Care;
- Ability to communicate precisely and concisely;
- Analytical skills;
- Proficiency in using machines and computers.
Experience needed
At least 3 years relevant working experience in Physiology practical and experimental procedures

Tenure of Appointment: 4-year contract
Age Limit: APPLICANTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED FIFTY FIVE (55) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION
Remuneration: PU7
