Background

UNAIDS is the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, leading the global effort to end AIDS by 2030. Guided by its Global AIDS Strategy, UNAIDS works to achieve zero new infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths. Context

UNAIDS Multi Country Office Uganda and Tanzania is seeking the help of an online volunteer to support in communications, specifically with its online platforms and a quarterly newsletter publication.

Task description

UNAIDS MCO is seeking the help of one online volunteer to create content for our social media pages on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn. The volunteer will:

  • Develop a social media calendar aligned with national activities and designed to expand our reach to a global audience.
  • Create engaging content (captions, infographics, photos, videos) using digital tools, while adhering to UNAIDS corporate design guidelines.
  • Review guidance documents provided by UNAIDS to ensure consistency and strategic messaging.
  • Support the quarterly newsletter (due beginning of July) by designing/lay outing the final version in Canva, using an approved template.
  • Compile a final report summarizing activities and outputs.

Assignment requirements

Required experience

  • Experience drafting content for social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn
  • Good written communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design (ideally using Canva)
  • Open to receiving guidance and participating in collaborative virtual sessions
  • Experience in communication for human rights, health, and advocacy is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the HIV/AIDS landscape in Uganda and Tanzania is an asset
