Job Summary:
NexGen Fuel Works Uganda Limited is seeking a results-driven General Manager with strong experience working for contractors serving Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). This role is ideal for a leader who understands the contractor environment, tight SLAs, HSSE-driven operations, and commercial delivery within fuel retail infrastructure. You will take full ownership of P&L performance, HSSE leadership, operational execution, and business growth in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow the Uganda business with full P&L accountability
- Deliver EBITDA-positive growth through operational and commercial excellence
- Champion HSSE with a target of zero fatalities and minimal LTIs
- Ensure flawless execution of maintenance contracts (right-first-time delivery)
- Drive new business in:
- Fuel dispensing equipment & pump installations
- Automation systems
- Solar and energy efficiency solutions
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, safety-focused team
- Strengthen systems, reporting, procurement, and operational efficiency
- Proactively resolve operational bottlenecks across functions
- Work closely with the Group MD and Board on performance, risks, and growth opportunities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 7-10 years’ total experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Proven experience working for a contractor serving Oil Marketing Companies in Uganda
- Strong understanding of contractor SLAs, HSSE requirements, and multi-site operations
- Demonstrated competence in sales, operations, and commercial delivery
- Track record of growing revenue and improving margins
- Prior experience working within an Oil Marketing Company is an added advantage, not a requirement
