Background
Savimaxx Limited Uganda is a multi-disciplinary professional consulting firm with demonstratable experience in successful management and implementation of projects. We are looking for a short-term independent Governance Assessor/Environment, Social and Governance Expert on retainer basis.
Responsibilities
The main task of the Governance Assessor/Environment, Social and Governance Expert is to carry out a rapid needs assessment, conduct a risk assessment, materiality analysis, review of Key Performance Indicators, carry out environmental, social and governance assessments, stakeholder engagement, Corrective Action Plan, development of the Client’s ESG Sustainability vision, mission, strategy, goals, metrics, targets and action plan.
Qualifications and Requirements
The person's specifics should include academic qualifications in corporate governance, change management, strategic management, policy, legal, regulatory and institutional analysis, social assessment, organisational/industrial psychology, climate change adaptation and mitigation or a related field.
Demonstrable experience in environmental and social audits, development of environmental and social management systems, and in structuring and implementing Environmental & Social Governance initiatives for organizations. S/He should have sound knowledge of the Paris Agreement and application of climate change adaptation and mitigation principles in development finance. Should have the ability to develop frameworks, financial templates, legal templates and guidelines for the implementation of ESG initiatives within organizations.
S/he must have formal training in ESG and conversant in Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), IFRS S1 and S2, SASB, UN Global Compact. S/he must have very strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities to work in a multi-disciplinary team and be ready to work in a diverse multicultural environment. Must have very good writing skills, editing of thematic reports, presentations skills and reporting skills. Must be fluent in oral, listening and written English.
Experience
A Ph. D and at least five years’ experience or Master’s Degree with at least 10 years experience in undertaking Environment, Social and Governance for international, multilateral, regional, national, public and private organisations in sub-saharan Africa.
