1. MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

WWF Uganda is advancing integrated landscape conservation approaches that improve outcomes for nature, climate resilience, sustainable production and community livelihoods. The internship supports landscape finance initiatives that mobilize public, private and philanthropic finance for conservation and sustainable development.

This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in WWF’s innovative Landscape Finance Approach while contributing to conservation and sustainable development initiatives. The successful candidate will develop practical skills in donor and investor engagement, stakeholder coordination, project development, monitoring, and reporting. Through exposure to nature-positive investment strategies and real-world conservation programmes, the intern will build a strong foundation in sustainable finance and partnership development, preparing them for a rewarding career in environmental conservation and sustainable development.

2. MAJOR FUNCTIONS

The major function of this role is to support WWF Uganda in gathering information, conducting basic analyses, coordinating stakeholders, developing knowledge products, and tracking landscape finance initiatives across priority landscapes.

3. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct desk research on landscape finance, conservation finance approaches and emerging opportunities, climate finance and sustainable investment opportunities.
  • Support landscape finance stakeholders and investor mapping exercises.
  • Collect, organize and maintain project, finance and landscape datasets.
  • Assist in developing concept notes, funding proposals, investment briefs, and presentations to various stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Support meetings, workshops and stakeholder consultations related to landscape financing
  • Prepare meeting notes, reports, and action trackers.
  • Develop knowledge of products, case studies, and communication materials.
  • Support monitoring, reporting and documentation of landscape finance results

4. PROFILE

Required Qualifications.

  • This role is fit for a recent graduate in either Climate Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Environmental Economics, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Development Studies, Agricultural economics or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, climate, conservation, or development finance.

Required Skills and Competencies.

  • Good analytical, research, and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and or other large data management programs
  • Ability to comfortably work with Office 365 and enhance online collaboration.
  • Ability to organize data and maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.

5. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • WWF UCO staff in field location, finance team and P&C department
  • WWF International YEP program leadership
  • Other YEP interns in the network

External.

  • None
