Job Overview/Summary:
The IT-Data team is seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to support the Data Transformation Working Group in identifying and standardizing key business definitions. This directly supports AI initiatives by providing models with consistent, well-governed terminology, helping improve data quality, accuracy, and the ability to explain AI outcomes. This role acts as a translator between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business terms, data definitions, and governance requirements are accurately reflected in Databricks data models and analytics platforms.
Responsibilities:

- Capture, analyze, and document comprehensive business and functional requirements; secure formal approvals.
- Perform gap analysis to compare current processes, client needs, and system capabilities.
- Document current-state processes and design future-state processes resulting from data transformation initiatives.
- Support project planning, scope definition, and requirement prioritization.
- Participate in solution design discussions and provide business input to ensure requirements are met.
- Map business requirements to technical capabilities and identify system constraints and dependencies.
- Identify and propose new process improvement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation.
- Support deployment and ongoing management of the Enterprise Data Catalog.
- Translate business definitions into technical metadata for tables, columns, schemas, and datasets in Databricks / Unity Catalog.
- Link business terms to data assets, dashboards, reports, and other data products.
- Act as liaison between business users and data engineers to translate requirements into technical specifications and support data modeling.
- Work with data owners and stewards to validate data classification and ensure correct application in Databricks/data catalog.
- Assist in mapping and documenting source systems, data pipelines, data products and datasets
- Participate in testing and validation of delivered solutions to ensure requirements are met.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Management, or related experience.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst providing high quality and advanced analytics for a complex, large not-for-profit organization and/or equivalent analytics experience in private sector marketing and sales
- Proven track record in leveraging leading-edge digital tools, providing advanced analytical reports, and proactively working to help promote data-driven strategic insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of process improvement tools like Visio.
- Non-profit and international humanitarian aid experience a plus
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive, collaborative, productive relationships with diverse key stakeholders across the organization.
- Strong communications skills with the ability to listen and converse effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues on reporting analysis and insights.
- Sound judgment in maintaining confidentiality of donor and key internal business information.
- Passion for and commitment to the IRC’s mission.
Working Environment:
