Bishop Stuart University (BSU) is a Faith-Based Christian University founded in 2002 by Ankole Diocese of the Church of Uganda. Fully accredited and chartered by His Excellency, the President of Uganda in 2014, the University is located in Mbarara City, Western Uganda. Role Context

The Officer drives the University’s efforts to produce graduates who are Responsible, educated, employable, entrepreneurial, ethical, God-fearing and adaptable to the labor market. This role nurtures skills for job creation and industry relevance, aligning with the university’s vision of entrepreneurship-infused education and the 2025-2035 Strategic Plan’s goals for economic impact. The Officer bridges academia and industry to ensure graduates contribute to African societal recreation through innovative, value-driven careers.

Qualifications or Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Career Guidance, or Education.
  • At least 5 years in career services, employability engagement or talent recruitment in a higher education environment.
  • Must be below 45 years.
  • Proven expertise in employability training and entrepreneurship education, ideally in a university setting.

Personal Competencies

  • Dynamic communication and facilitation skills to engage students, employers, and alumni effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking, and versed with Uganda'/global labor market trends.
  • Data-driven approach, skilled in analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, survey software) for outcome measurement.
  • Alignment with Christian values, demonstrating compassion and ethical leadership in guiding youth.
  • Adaptability, cultural awareness, and passion for empowering graduates to create sustainable jobs.
  • Develop and deliver tailored career readiness programs, including workshops on CV writing, interview skills, personal branding, and entrepreneurial mindset training.
  • Establish and manage internship pipelines, job fairs, and alumni mentorship networks with industry partners in Uganda and abroad.
  • Promote entrepreneurship initiatives, such as startup incubators, business plan competitions, and access to seed funding resources.
  • Analyze labor market trends and collaborate with faculties to align curricula with employability needs (e.g., soft skills integration).
  • Track and report graduate outcomes, including employment rates, entrepreneurship ventures, and skills gaps, to inform strategic enhancements.
  • Organize career counseling sessions and employer engagement events, embedding Christian values like integrity and service in professional development.
  • Foster inclusive opportunities for underrepresented students, ensuring equitable access to employability resources.
