The IDI's Global Health Security Department seeks to recruit a clinical biostatistician who will provide hands-on experience in applied biostatistics within the context of health security, outbreak response, and research across the GHS department’s seven program areas. The Clinical Biostatistician graduate trainee/intern will support the GHS statistical and modelling unit to analyse clinical and surveillance data to generate evidence for infectious disease control studies and strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support data cleaning and validation of the datasets generated under the GHS department programs.
- Support projects to develop data collection tools and prepare analysis plans in alignment with project research and learning questions
- Perform statistical analyses for reporting and support development of manuscripts.
- Utilise the data to develop statistical models for outbreaks and infectious diseases
- Support sample size estimation and power analysis for proposals, epidemiological studies and clinical trials.
- Support the design and maintenance of automated cloud-based data pipelines, ensuring secure, scalable, and consistent data flows
- Monitor and assess data quality through profiling, reporting, and basic visualisation to flag and help resolve data issues
- Maintain metadata systems and data catalogues to support discoverability, traceability, and usability across datasets
- Contribute to documentation and data governance activities, including dataset versioning, consent mapping, and ethical use
- Work closely with researchers, data scientists, and domain experts to ensure data meets ethical, analytical, and quality standards
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related field. A masters degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, or Applied Mathematics is an added advantage.
- Recent graduate with strong academic performance (GPA 4.00 and above) from a chartered university

- Proficiency in statistical software: R, Python, Stata, SAS. Stata, data visualisation and interpretation.

- Eagerness to learn and grow in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
