Job Overview

Spiro is seeking a dynamic and Communications Officer to lead our public relations and communication efforts in Uganda. This role will be pivotal in enhancing Spiro’s brand visibility, fostering stakeholder relationships, and promoting our mission of sustainable mobility. The ideal candidate will be a creative storyteller with a deep understanding of the East African media landscape, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for sustainability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Storytelling: Develop and execute PR campaigns that highlight Spiro’s impact in electric mobility, drafting press releases, opinion pieces, and media pitches tailored to East African audiences.
  • Content Creation: Produce engaging content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, blogs, and the company website, ensuring alignment with Spiro’s brand voice and mission.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with journalists, government officials, industry partners, and community leaders to amplify Spiro’s presence and influence in the region.
  • Market Insights: Monitor media trends, competitor activities, and public sentiment in East Africa to inform communication strategies and ensure Spiro remains a thought leader in the mobility sector.
  • Campaign Evaluation: Track and analyze the performance of PR and communication initiatives, leveraging data to refine strategies and demonstrate impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in PR, communications, or a related role, preferably in East Africa.
  • Proven track record of managing successful media campaigns and building relationships with regional media outlets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Swahili or other regional languages is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with the East African cultural, political, and media landscape.
  • Experience in sustainability, technology, or mobility sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics software.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
