Role Overview
The Finance Manager will provide strategic leadership and hands-on management of the Foundation’s financial operations. Responsibilities include financial control, reporting, donor compliance, and stewardship of resources. This leadership role demands integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial policies, plans, and systems to support the Foundation’s mission and growth objectives.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and budget monitoring across all departments and projects.
- Accounting & Bookkeeping: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including payroll, bank reconciliations, and asset management.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Audit & Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulations, lead audit processes, and implement recommendations.
- Grants Management: Monitor project budgets and support grant proposal reporting.
- Risk Management: Maintain internal controls and mitigate financial risks.
- Capacity Building: Train finance and non-finance staff on financial best practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with partners, donors, auditors, and regulators.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and support the finance team, promoting professionalism and growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s or professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA) is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting, preferably in the NGO sector.
- Knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing multi-donor budgets and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage), MS Excel, and analysis tools.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- High integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
