Head of Accounting – Laboremus Uganda

What You Would Do
You will join the team as the Head of Accounting. As such, you will lead our finance and admin, be responsible for the financial management of our company as well as oversee the administrative management. Concretely, your responsibilities will include:
• Continuously drive improvements in our accounting and finance team
• Accounting and (management) reporting
• Oversee the implementation of other admin functions like procurement, insurance of staff and equipment, filing returns, etc.
• Work together with senior management to oversee budget formulation and development
• Advise management on issues regarding tax, accounting, audit, and employment legislation in Uganda
• Develop and maintain financial management mechanisms and templates that facilitate accurate financial planning and reporting

You will work closely with the CEO, and you will be supported by our Administrative Officer who will support you in performing the accounting and admin functions. You will work out of our beautiful office in Bugolobi, Kampala.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an analytical, sharp-minded person with a strong drive to get things done. You have the ambition and potential to grow.

In a perfect world you bring the following:
• Business-related degree (Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Finance)
• Accounting Certification (ACCA or CPA)
• At least 4 years working as an Accountant
• Process-oriented, structured with attention to detail, get it done attitude, and a strong desire to significantly grow in your career
• Solid knowledge of the business operating environment in Uganda
• Solid knowledge of the prevailing tax regulatory environment
• Solid understanding of IFRS and general accounting practices
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Desire to work in tech venture
