Job Summary

The Pediatrician (Business Partner) is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care to infants, children, and adolescents through outpatient consultations and follow-up care. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing childhood illnesses while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to promote child health and well-being. The Pediatrician will practice independently while utilizing the medical centre as a consultation facility for patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical consultations for infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions.
  • Monitor child growth and developmental milestones.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
  • Provide preventive healthcare services, including immunization guidance and health education.
  • Refer patients for specialized investigations or treatment where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records.
  • Educate parents and caregivers on disease prevention, nutrition, and child wellness.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Adhere to professional, ethical, and regulatory standards at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics.
  • Valid practicing license.
  • Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC).
  • Actively practicing as a Pediatrician.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Medical ethics and professionalism
  • Record keeping and documentation

Working Arrangement

  • Business Partner / Consultant arrangement.
  • Flexible consultation schedule based on patient appointments.
  • The specialist will consult and manage patients from Shalom Medical Centre – Kawempe-Kazo.
