Purpose of the Job
To provide academic leadership and knowledge in the relevant discipline and lead the development and implementation of research and publications.
Person Specifications
1) PhD in Pharmacology or in the related field
2) Master of Science degree in Pharmacology.
3) MBChB, BBS, Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized Institution
4) Demonstrated outstanding professional ability or exceptional academic capability in accordance with the University's policy for academic Staff.
5) Should have a good track record of relevant teaching, research, publication and service to the public of not less than seven (7) years.
6) Should have the ability to provide academic leadership.
7) Should have five (5) new publications since appointment to the position of Associate Professor.
8) Should have supervised at least five (5) graduate students to completion.
9) Registration with a Professional Council with a valid practising license.
Duties and Responsibilities
a) Providing academic leadership, guidance and mentorship in the department.
b) Preparing and delivering lectures to students.
c) Conducting seminars and tutorials.
d) Advising students on their academic performance.
e) Participating in curriculum development and review.
f) Supervising student projects, field trips and placements where required.
g) Setting, marking and assessing course work and examinations and providing timely feedback to students.
h) Preparing and submitting proposals and applications to external bodies for funding and accreditation purposes.
i) Conducting research and producing scholarly publications
j) Promoting quality assurance in all spheres of service delivery.
k) Initiating and participating in outreach services for the development of the community

i. Academic leadership and guidance provided.

iii. Seminars and tutorials conducted.
iv. Students guided and advised on their performance.
v. Student projects, field trips and placements supervised.
vi. Coursework and examinations set and marked, and timely feedback given.

x. Community outreach programmes undertaken.
