Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. Job Summary:
The Project Assistant- Climate Resilient and Environment will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of climate resilience and environmental protection activities within the project area. The role focuses on promoting climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem restoration, disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability initiatives that enhance community resilience. The Project Assistant will work closely with community structures, local governments, and partners to ensure quality delivery of project activities aligned with FH policies and donor requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Project Assistant- Climate Resilient and Environment your overall responsibilities will be (JDs Key Result Areas):
- Community Mobilization and Ecosystem Restoration
- Promotion of Climate-Smart and Regenerative Practices
- Energy Saving and Waste-to-Energy Solutions
- School and Community Climate Clubs (Ecosystem-based Adaptation-EbA)
- Capacity Strengthening of District and Local Structures
- Protection of Water Sources and Infrastructure
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Climate Change, Agriculture, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in climate resilience, environmental conservation, DRR, or sustainable livelihoods programming.
- Experience working with community groups and local government structures.
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and ecosystem restoration approaches.
- Experience in humanitarian or development programming is an added advantage.

- Good report writing and documentation abilities.
