JOB DETAILS:
The Electricity Regulatory Authority is a Statutory Body established in the year 2000, in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999, (Chapter 145 of the Laws of Uganda) to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Sale, Export and Import of Electrical Energy in Uganda.
ERA is mandated by the Electricity Act, 1999, to issue electricity Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Sale and Import Licenses, set License conditions and ensure compliance to License conditions by Licensees. ERA is also mandated to establish a tariff structure, approve rates of charges among other functions. ERA is committed to ensuring a sustainable Electricity Supply. To fulfil its mandate ERA seeks to engage the services of dedicated, competent, innovative and result‐oriented individuals for employment on contract basis for the posts below;

Job Title; Projects Engineer ‐Electrical

Terms: Initial Five (5) Year Contract. Subject to renewal, upon satisfactory performance
Reports to; Manager Project Planning and Development
Job Purpose
To manage the electricity generation projects licensing process by carrying out technical review of license applications, monitoring progress both at feasibility study and construction levels in line with ERA Mandate.

Duties/Responsibilities, and Competences for the Job:
1. Evaluate the adequacy of the proposed power evacuation arrangement.
2. Monitor the implementation of power evacuation projects for power plants;
3. Review power evacuation arrangements and propose improvements;
4. Conduct analytical, technical review during the processing of license applications.
5. Monitor progress of projects and prepare quarterly status reports on electricity generation projects under development both at permit and construction stage.
6. Process license extension applications.
7. Monitor progress and quality of construction of electricity projects.
8. Provide support to the project costs evaluation team.
9. Advise on demand and supply issues based on the current generation installed capacity, licensed and feasibility study‐stage projects.
10. Maintain an up‐to‐date database of all ongoing, completed and commissioned generation projects.
11. Conduct site inspections and meetings during license processing and throughout the plant construction period to ensure good workmanship according to standard to ensure value for money.
12. Participate in licensing of new power projects/investments.
13. Develop guidelines for project progress reporting by licensees.

Academic Qualifications and Working Experience:
• An Honors University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in the electricity sector with practical knowledge in the generation, transmission and distribution systems, power projects development.
• Should be a registerable Engineer by UIPE/ERB.
• Should be knowledgeable about the electricity supply industry in Uganda.
• Should be below 30 Years of age.
