Job Purpose
To oversee and drive the company’s sales operations across Uganda by developing strategies to increase market share, expanding the client database, managing field sales agents, and ensuring consistent revenue growth. The Sales Manager will lead the sales team, build strong relationships with agro-dealers and farmers, and champion the promotion of the company’s agricultural product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Growth
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to grow sales in all regions of Uganda.
- Identify new markets, opportunities, and partnerships to expand product penetration.
- Set sales targets and ensure the team meets or exceeds monthly and annual sales goals.
- Monitor competitor activities and market trends to guide strategic decisions.
2. Sales Team Leadership & Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate field sales agents and regional sales representatives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to improve team productivity.
- Organize regional sales meetings, product trainings, and field demonstrations.
3. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Lead efforts to increase the company’s client database including agro-dealers, distributors, farmers, and cooperatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to enhance customer loyalty and retention.
- Conduct regular field visits to understand customer needs, collect feedback, and provide after-sales support.
4. Product Promotion & Awareness
- Coordinate product demonstrations, farmer trainings, and field days to promote the company’s herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, and other agricultural solutions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and materials.
- Ensure compliance with agricultural product usage guidelines and safety regulations during demonstrations.
5. Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare periodic sales reports and forecasts for management decision-making.
- Track sales performance by region, product category, and sales agent.
- Ensure accurate documentation of sales activities in CRM or tracking systems.
6. Operational & Administrative Duties
- Manage distribution plans and ensure timely delivery of products to various regions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, agricultural industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Marketing or Sales is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in sales of agricultural inputs (herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides).
- Proven experience in managing field sales teams and driving countrywide sales growth.
- Strong understanding of Uganda’s agricultural sector, farmer behavior, and agro-input market dynamics.
