Future Options Consulting Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a reputable public sector development institution in Uganda with a mandate to promote strategic investments, economic development, research, and sustainable growth across key sectors of the economy.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To conduct research projects that support the corporation’s strategic objectives and investment decisions. This role involves designing and managing research initiatives, analysing data, and providing actionable insights to inform decision-making and enhance the organization’s development projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of Research Activities
- Participate in the design and implementation of research projects focused on the organization’s investments and development initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Develop and apply rigorous, evidence-based research methodologies to guarantee the accuracy, reliability, and validity of research findings, adapting approaches as necessary to address unique project challenges.
- Contribute to the development of organisational strategies, policies, and programs by synthesising research findings and insights that inform the organization’s strategic direction and investment decisions.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to the projects team that enhance the organization’s development projects and initiatives.
Data Collection and Analysis
- Oversee and conduct comprehensive data collection, analysis, and interpretation, utilising advanced analytical techniques to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Ensure the effective management of data systems and processes to enhance data accessibility and usability across research projects.
Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the M&E team and other stakeholders to ensure research activities are aligned with organisational goals and that insights are effectively integrated into M&E frameworks.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams to enhance the quality and impact of research initiatives, promoting a cohesive approach to data and analysis.
Quality Assurance
- Uphold the highest standards of quality, ethics, and integrity across all research activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of research processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners, to ensure that research activities are relevant, impactful, and aligned with broader organisational goals.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships that facilitate knowledge sharing and support the integration of stakeholder perspectives into research initiatives.
- Prepare and present comprehensive research reports, academic papers, and policy briefs that effectively communicate findings and insights to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare clear reports tailored to the needs of various audiences, supporting informed decision-making and organisational learning.
Risk and People Management
- Identify and assess potential risks associated with research projects, including data integrity issues, methodological limitations, and external factors that could impact the validity of research findings.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address these risks, ensuring that research activities are conducted with high accuracy and reliability.
- Supervise subordinates by setting clear goals, providing mentorship and promoting continuous improvement through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and recognition of achievements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, project planning and management, public policy and administration, statistics, and any other relevant discipline.
- Post-graduate qualification in research, monitoring and evaluation or a related field.
- Certifications in either of the following will be considered as an added advantage
- Certification in Data Analysis and Visualisation (e.g., STATA, SPSS, or R) is an added advantage
- Certification in Data Quality and Management is an added advantage

Six (6) years of experience in a relevant field
