About the job

Our client is seeking an experienced Casual Labour Manager to oversee the recruitment, deployment, supervision, and welfare of casual coffee labourers engaged in coffee handling, processing, and related operations. The role ensures adequate labor availability, productivity, compliance with labor standards, and smooth daily operations during peak and off-peak seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage daily, weekly, and seasonal labor requirements for coffee operations
  • Recruit, assign, and deploy casual laborers based on operational needs
  • Supervise casual labourers on-site to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and safely
  • Set daily work targets and monitor performance
  • Prepare and verify casual labour payroll data including attendance, piece rates, and overtime
  • Coordinate with finance and HR teams to ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Ensure compliance with Ugandan labor laws, company policies, and ethical sourcing standards
  • Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards at work sites
  • Work closely with operations, logistics, quality, and warehouse teams
  • Prepare regular reports on labor utilization, costs, productivity, and incidents

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience managing casual or seasonal labour, preferably in coffee or agricultural operations
  • Proven experience supervising large teams of casual workers
