Description
Section/Department: ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY
Headcount: 01
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all personnel are made aware of the Environment, Health & Safety Policy
Advise all concerned departments in planning and organising measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries
Advise on safety aspects in all job studies and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs
Check and evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries
Advise the purchasing and stores departments in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment
Advise on matters related to carrying out plant safety inspections
Carry out plant safety inspections in order to observe the physical conditions of work, practices and procedures followed by workers and render advice on measures to be adopted for removing unsafe physical conditions and prevent unsafe actions by workers
Ensure that any unsafe acts and conditions are tracked and actioned to closure at department level
Render advice on matters related to reporting and investigations of industrial accidents and diseases
Investigate the selected accidents and dangerous occurrences and suggest the CAPA to avoid the reoccurrences
Advise on the maintenance of records relating to accidents, dangerous occurrences, and industrial diseases
Organise in association with the concerned department, campaigns, competitions, contests, and other activities, which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedures
Design and conduct either independently or in collaboration with the training department, suitable training, and educational programs for the prevention of personal injuries
Ensure EHS is regarded and practiced as a value by all employees and ensure discussion on EHS matters takes lead by core team levels
Drive EHS culture change
Arrange, sample and test effluent, air emissions, ETP sludge (Chemical & Biological) and soil for standards prescribed by authority or regulator through external approved laboratories and maintain their records and trends
Ensure the efficient running and maintenance of the ETP
Take necessary engineering measures to ensure that prescribed effluent/emissions standards are met
Renew and update consents of water, air and hazardous waste
Submit Environmental Statements and provide required monthly reports to authorities
Establish energy, water, resource conservation programs and waste reduction (sustainability) programmes
Follow up and co-ordinate compliance on various recommendations of audits as well as local bodies on environmental matters
Ensure that ambient air monitoring is conducted at specified intervals as per statutory requirements
Ensure use of personal protective equipment as and when required and keep the same in well-maintained condition
Be responsible for identifying aspects and environmental impacts and determining significant aspects with help of department head
Be responsible for identifying hazards and assessing risks in liaison with the EHS Team
Be responsible for coordinating with EHS head on developing, implementing, and maintaining EOHSM systems
Ensure compliance with statutory requirement or other features in relation to Health, safety and Environment.
Conduct health, safety and environment audits and follow up
Comply with statutory requirements pertaining to environment and safety
Direct installation and alterations of machinery, equipment or other features in relation to health, safety and environment
Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Line Manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Science & Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electricidal or Mechanical Engineering
Certificate in OSH (NEBOSH IGC or any other certified institute) is a must
Minimum of 3 years OSH practical experience from an industrial set up
Working knowledge of MS Suite and SAP are must
Good teamwork, interpersonal skills and adherence to cGMP and Quality Management Systems
Self-starter, flexible and able to work well under pressure at work
Be observant, creative and innovative in line with the business needs
