The selected HR Experts will work directly with businesses to address their needs, including:

  1. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
    • Develop or improve job descriptions and recruitment processes.
    • Advise on strategies for recruiting the right talent.
    • Promote gender-responsive hiring practices.
  2. Employee Retention and Engagement
    • Support retention strategies, including motivation and non-monetary benefits.
    • Establish onboarding processes and career development plans.
  3. Diversity and Inclusion
    • Ensure gender-sensitive HR practices and fair representation.
    • Promote inclusive workplace policies.
  4. Performance Management
    • Design or improve performance appraisal systems.
    • Support setting up KPIs, feedback mechanisms, and performance reviews.
  5. Workplace Culture and Staff Well-being
    • Cultivate a positive and productive workplace culture.
    • Introduce practices that promote employee well-being and job satisfaction.
  6. Compensation and Benefits
    • Guide the development of fair and competitive compensation structures.
    • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and promote gender pay equity.
  7. HR Policy Development
    • Assist in developing or reviewing HR manuals, codes of conduct, and workplace policies.
    • Enhance managers’ capacity in HR compliance and ethical treatment of staff.

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in HR consulting or senior-level HR management.
  • Experience working with SMEs, start-ups, or social enterprises.
  • Strong understanding of gender equity, inclusion, and workplace diversity.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and HR best practices in Uganda and/or Kenya.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of local languages is a plus.
