Job Summary:
He/She shall ensure that the aircraft avionics systems are maintained to standard as per requirements of the maintenance program. The successful candidate will be in charge of monitoring maintenance operations, modifications & repairs, and related aircraft avionics systems related activities, tracking avionics related repetitive defects, liaising with aircraft/aircraft component manufacturers to facilitate the troubleshooting and fault isolations, identifying areas of continuous improvement and overall ensuring the highest level of efficiency and safety in operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Managing in-house fleet modifications, liaison with Approved design organizations, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, and Original Equipment Manufacturers, and advising any potential impact on the aircraft avionics.
• Accessing the impact of maintenance related activities and modifications to the electrical load requirements of the aircraft/aircraft component
• Liaison with Aircraft and equipment manufacturers, Regulatory Authorities, and Sub-contracted Aircraft Maintenance Organizations on technical, logistics, and support matters related to the aircraft avionics,
• Participating in defect rectification and troubleshooting efforts involving aircraft/aircraft component schematics reviews and wiring diagrams
• Directing, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating avionics work performed by Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with approved data, regulatory requirements, and Company policies and procedures.
• Review of AD’s, SB’s, and other instructions from the manufacturer and relevant regulatory authorities for their application on Uganda Airlines’ fleet in the assigned focus area.
• Update the Maintenance Information System database accordingly.
• Ensure that modifications and repairs are initiated, tasked, and tracked according to the assigned focus area’s required timescales and resource requirements.
• Provides troubleshooting assistance to maintenance engineers in cases of unscheduled maintenance and AOG situations, including maintenance outside the base.
• Accessing impact of maintenance-related activities to the electrical load requirements of the aircraft/aircraft component.
• Participating in defect rectification and troubleshooting efforts involving aircraft/aircraft component schematics reviews and wiring diagrams.
• Directing, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating avionics work performed by Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with approved data, regulatory requirements and Company policies and procedures.
• Other work as assigned by the Manager Engineering and Planning.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
• An honor’s Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering (Aeronautics), from a recognized University.
• An equivalent qualification from a recognized aviation maintenance training school
• Knowledge and experience on a Jet aircraft is an added advantage.
• Analytical skills are an added advantage.
• Equivalent working experience of at least 3 years in Aircraft engineering and maintenance organization.
• Advanced Skills in computer applications, MS Word, PowerPoint will be an added advantage.
• Evidence of high levels of analytical skills will be an added advantage.
