Responsibilities or duties

Reporting to the Head of Agency Recruitment, the Agency Recruitment Officer will be responsible for leading, guiding & co-ordinating the training function at Jinja Branch. Conduct new agent on-boarding training, conducting the rookie development programme, and agency leadership trainings, conducting Pru Academy & structured zero case writers & specialized trainings, conducting branch training needs analysis surveys, scheduling & coordinating boiler rooms & partial training content development. Source for potential recruits, guide applicants through the online recruitment portal, organize and coordinate BOP (Business Opportunity Presentation)

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

As the ideal resource for this role, the successful candidate will be an ardent team player, with good communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills, ability to successfully work in a high activity, fast paced environment, excellent computer skills i.e. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, has excellent customer care skills, ability to be flexible in order to deliver required tasks, excellent Time Management Skills, Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience needed

Minimum of 3 years work experience in the Insurance Industry.

  • Identify agent manpower needs across agency teams
  • Drive recruitment awareness through social media, referrals, career fairs, insurance industry events
  • Build partnerships with universities/insurance institutes for fresh graduate talent
  • Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, assess skills/experience fit
  • Manage assessments/tests for specific roles (e.g., Numeracy & Grit)
  • Shortlist candidates for hiring managers’ review
  • Promote agency culture, benefits, career paths to attract candidates
  • Work with marketing to create recruitment fliers for leaders and agents
  • Conduct Recruitment sessions with agency Leaders on value of MAPA
  • Ensure candidates meet agency ideal agent profile and industry licensing/regulatory requirements (e.g., ITC, IRA Uganda)
  • Manage background checks & where possible qualification verifications
  • Support the Pru Power Sprint training team with on boarding training
  • Ensure smooth transition for new interns into training and hand over to direct teams
  • Recruit agents with focus on team performance targets and overall company and group direction
  • Track new agent performance metrics for retention and growth strategies
  • Track recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, source effectiveness, retention)
  • Report to management on talent pipeline, hiring challenges
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by Management.

  • Possession of a professional qualification in insurance or in progress towards attaining it.
  • Hands on Practical knowledge of insurance Training and development with coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Robust knowledge of insurance sales and marketing in Uganda’s Insurance market.
  • Positive attitude and a yearning to learn and willingness to continuously learn new competencies
  • Understanding of industry compliance guidelines is desirable
  • Individual with initiative and ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
