Responsibilities or duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner – Water Resources Management for performing the following duties:-

  • Supporting the development of policies and plans for water resources and land use monitoring and assessment;
  • Participating in the reviewing and updating of national strategic plans for water resources monitoring and assessment;
  • Supporting the operation, development and maintenance of water quantity monitoring networks;
  • Supporting the development and implementation of water resources and land use guidelines in the sector;
  • Supporting research and developing area-based water resources management plans;
  • Supporting the assessment of water resources in the Country;
  • Participating in the initiation and management of mitigation plans guidelines and measures against disasters (i.e. floods and droughts);
  • Leading the management and dissemination of information on water resources;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; or Water Engineering; or any other Water Sciences plus a Masters Degree in Water Engineering from a recognized University / Institution. Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Management or Administration will be an added advantage. Applicants in case of Engineers, should be registered with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board.

Experience needed

Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served as a Principal Water Officer in Government.

  • Participating in the reviewing and updating of national strategic plans for water resources monitoring and assessment;
  • Supporting the operation, development and maintenance of water quantity monitoring networks;
