In 2023, Jeeva Consult embarked on an expansion drive in the entire East African region inorder to expand its business reach and services. Currently, the company has been incorporated in South Sudan, Kenya and Rwanda making it have four (4) branches with Uganda hosting the head office. Plans are underway to incorporate the company in DR Congo, Somalia, Nigeria and Liberia by the year 2026. Role Purpose
The Data Management Officer (DMO) is responsible for directly implementing all aspects of data collection, processing, analysis, visualization, and quality assurance to support research and consultancy projects. The DMO ensures data integrity, develops efficient data management systems, and provides training to field teams on proper data collection procedures. The DMO is responsible for directly implementing both quantitative and qualitative data across research projects. The role ensures data integrity, develops efficient management systems, and supports analysis through structured and unstructured data processing. This role combines technical expertise in data analytics with strong organizational skills to maintain high-quality data standards across all projects. The DMO will work closely with researchers to clean, code, analyze, and visualize data while maintaining strict quality control protocols.
This JD ensures the Data Management Officer can handle both numbers and narratives, crucial for comprehensive research in development projects. It balances technical data skills with qualitative research expertise, aligning with Jeeva Consult's multidisciplinary approach.

Roles and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Snr. DMO, the Data Management Officer will undertake the following responsibilities:

Data Analytics and Infographics
• Data Analysis:
• Perform statistical analysis using software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Python, Excel).
• Interpret datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights for research reports.
• Use qualitative software (NVivo, Atlas.ti, Dedoose) to organize and analyze text, audio, and video data.
• Generate automated reports/dashboards (Power BI, Tableau).
• Data Visualization & Reporting:
• Design and develop dashboards, charts, graphs, and infographics using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.
• Prepare visually compelling reports for stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy.

Data Processing
• Data Cleaning & Validation:
• Clean, validate, and structure raw data from surveys datasets and secondary sources.
• Develop SQL/Excel-based databases for large datasets.
• Database Management:
• Organize and maintain structured databases for research projects.
• Ensure data is stored securely and is easily retrievable for analysis.
• Data Entry Oversight:
• Supervise data entry teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop standardized data entry protocols to minimize errors.

Training in Data Collection Procedures
• Field Staff Training:
• Train field teams on both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
• Develop training materials and conduct sessions for enumerators and field teams on proper data collection methods.
• Ensure compliance with research protocols and ethical guidelines.
• Survey Tool Development:
• Assist in designing digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO).
• Test (Pre and pilot) and refine survey instruments before field deployment.
• Quality Control During Data Collection:
• Monitor fieldwork to ensure adherence to data collection standards.

Data Management Systems & Software
• System Implementation & Maintenance:
• Implement tools for mixed-methods research (e.g., Dedoose for qualitative-quantitative integration).
• Automation & Efficiency Improvements:
• Develop scripts (Python, R, or VBA) to automate repetitive data tasks.
• Optimize data workflows to reduce processing time and errors.

Data Control & Quality Assurance
• Quality Checks & Audits:
• Establish data validation rules and conduct routine quality checks.
• Perform random audits on datasets to verify accuracy and completeness.
• Error Tracking & Resolution:
• Log and track data discrepancies, ensuring timely corrections.
• Document data issues and recommend preventive measures.
• Compliance & Security.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, local laws).

Project Support & Coordination
• Survey Design & Testing:
• Assist in developing digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox).
• Pilot-test surveys to identify and fix logical errors.

  • Field Team Supervision:
    • Monitor data collectors to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Research Proposal Input:
    • Advise on data collection methodologies (sample size, tools).

Additional Responsibilities (As Assigned)
• Support in reporting by compiling datasets.
• Assist in academic publications (data visualization, annexes).
• Perform any other roles as maybe delegated by the Line Manager/Supervisor

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education and Qualifications
• A University Degree in Statistics, Bio-statistics, data science, demography, population studies or statistical related course from a recognised institution of higher learning
• Post graduate diploma in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation, data analytics and informatics or any relevant field of study will be an added advantage

Experience and Skills
• Minimum of 2 year's relevant work experience in mixed-methods data management (quantitative + qualitative), data management, research, or M&E roles.
• Experience working with research consultancy based companies or organisations of atleast one year

  • Demonstrable Expertise in:
    • Quantitative: SPSS/STATA/R, Excel, SQL
    • Qualitative: NVivo, MAXQDA, Atlas.ti, Dedoose, or similar
    • Experience in programming tools using mobile data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox, Survey CTO etc.).
    • Experience with transcription, coding, and thematic analysis for qualitative data.
    • Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
