CIC General Insurance Uganda Limited is hiring a Assistant Manager Supply Chain Management to support the effective management of the Procurement and supply chain function by coordinating procurement, inventory management, logistics, and vendor relations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of goods and services in line with organizational goals and policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Procurement & Vendor Management ·

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and oversee end to end procurement plans in line with organizational needs.
  • Prepare bid documents, request for quotations and evaluate supplier proposals.
  • Participate in supplier sourcing, evaluation, and contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms on price, quality and delivery
  • Maintain vendor databases and ensure compliance with procurement procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate non-compliance.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing to identify cost – saving opportunities.
  • Identify, assess and onboard reliable suppliers and service providers.

Inventory & Stores Management

  • Oversee stock levels and support timely replenishment of goods.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, stock verification, and reconciliation.
  • Support implementation of inventory control systems to minimize wastage and stock-outs.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Coordinate transportation and delivery schedules for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor and track shipments, ensuring timely clearance and delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth flow of materials.

Policy & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to organizational procurement and supply chain policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Keep abreast of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Enforce compliance with ethical procurement standards and anti- corruption guidelines.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement, stock levels, supplier performance, and logistics.
  • Identify areas of improvement and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain and update the vendor database, including performance records and compliance documents.
  • Support supply chain risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Team Support & Coordination

  • Supervise and mentor junior staff in the supply chain department.
  • Foster collaboration with finance, operations, and other departments for smooth processes.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between procurement, logistics, inventory and finance teams.
  • Monitor staff adherence to organizational policies, policies, procedures and ethical standards

Strategic Coordination & Implementation:

  • Support the planning and execution of Procurement programs Liaise with regional and branch teams to ensure implementation of procurement processes are followed.
  • Provide leadership to supply chain team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Maintain a calendar of events and ensure branded items procured and delivered to the events.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and supply chain Management Business Administration or related Field.
  • Post graduate diploma in Procurement and supply chain management.
  • Professional Qualification: Certificate from Chartered Institute of procurement & supply qualifications (CIPS) or CPSM
  • 4 years and above
  • A member of association of supply chain Management Added advantage
