Job purpose:

The Job Holder will be responsible for soliciting and procuring insurance business on behalf of the Bank. The role will encompass explaining the insurance terms of an insurance product to a prospective policy holder without any misleading information or misrepresentation on the benefits or costs of the insurance policy. The person must be well versed in local Insurance regulations, confident and excellent in oral or written communications and have self-discipline and drive to build the insurance division to a successful business unit.

Key Result Areas:

  • Deliver against sales and profitability targets
  • Drive sales campaigns for any products, advertising as required.
  • In charge of the sales drive at assigned branches of operation.
  • Manage the bringing in of insurance sales.
  • Follow up on the lodged claims and compiling of all claim support documents
  • Manage Complaints lodged.
  • Obtain requisite documents at the time of filling the proposal form with the insurer and any other document that may be required by the insurer to complete the proposal and promptly inform the prospective policy holder about acceptance or rejection of the proposal by the insurer, as the case may be.
  • Follow up on the upcoming renewals and expired policies.
  • Premium and commission reconciliations
  • Registration and update of insurance data in any Bancassurance systems in place.
  • Render the necessary assistance to the policy holder or claimants or beneficiaries in complying with the requirements for settlement of claims by the insurer.
  • Adherence to all regulatory requirements by the local regulator
  • Compliance to the Bank’s set policy and procedures
  • Supervise Sales Executives performance.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, BOU regulations, budget parameters, and procedures and the risk management framework operational within the Bank.
  • Ensure non-disclosure of any information or data of a prospective policy holder, as the case may be, which is obtained in the course of conducting bancassurance business except as may be authorized under any law.
  • Ensure not to enter into contract with or have any sort of arrangement with any person other than the insurer with the intention of referring, introducing or providing the contact details of the prospective policy holders in furtherance of the distribution of the insurance product.
  • Shall not demand or receive from a policy holder or beneficiary, a share of the proceeds, under an insurance contract.
  • Shall conduct due diligence to demand for insurance premiums or follow up on any renewal premiums from the policy holders and premiums collected shall be remitted to the Bank account.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and working experience in insurance in the areas of underwriting, claims, finance or regulation of at least four years or
  • Certificate of proficiency from the insurance institute and has a working experience in insurance matters of at least three years.
  • Continued professional development.
  • Financial literacy
  • No previous or current convictions
  • Candidates currently approved as specified persons by the IRA will be preferred
