Consultancy to Conduct a Project Design and Development Workshop in Uganda – Girls Not Brides Tendering at Girls Not Brides
Scope of work
The consultancy has the following objectives:
• Articulation of a clear vision of what Girls Not Brides Uganda wish to accomplish in the short and long term (5 years) and the road map to get there (this will be the base for future project design and fundraising).
• Design of a 3-year project through a co-creation process with GNB Uganda’s members.
• Strengthen the knowledge, capacities, and skills of members on what works to end child marriage, project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
The workshop and overall process will be conducted in a participatory way that makes the most of the rich knowledge and experience of the members present in the workshop, capitalises on the current Girls Not Bride Uganda’s strategic plan and current 2022/23 project and on the most updated learning on what works to end child marriage and on how to accelerate and scale-up change.
The consultant will be responsible for co-designing and co-facilitating the participatory workshop, including supporting Girls Not Brides Uganda members in key concepts including capturing impact (designing impact evaluations of collective interventions), MEL support – including theory of change development, organizational development, multi-year work planning, transformative leadership in movement building and collective action.

The consultant will carry out the following activities.
• Undertake a review of existing project materials/information.
• Develop innovative workshop agenda and modules, and methodology/approach to achieve the objectives above. This will be shared with Girls Not Brides for approval ahead of the participatory capacity-building workshop.
• Co – facilitate the workshop in close collaboration with a team composed of Girls Not Brides Uganda and Girls Not Brides Global.
• Facilitate daily debriefings with Girls Not Brides Team and the day’s facilitators during the workshop period.
• Integrate feedback from the workshop and produce the final project documents (see deliverables list).
Deliverables
The expected deliverables are.
• An inception report outlining how the assignment will be executed with detailed methodology and tools used. This report shall be submitted for review and approval by Girls Not Brides after signing the contract before the commencement of the work.
• Training programme for the workshop
• A final and fully developed 3 years project document (that will be financially supported by Girls Not Brides)
• A report on how Girls Not Brides Uganda articulates its clear vision of what they wish to accomplish in 5 years, including a roadmap for how to get there (this will be the base for the design of future projects and fundraising activities)
• Produce a detailed workshop report.

Duration of work
The duration for this assignment is 30 days with effect from 1st February to 10 March 2023. The consultant is expected to adhere to the set timelines.
Required experience, qualification, and expertise
The consultant(s) should have the following qualifications/expertise:
• Post graduate degree in Social Sciences, project management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Gender Studies, or others as may be relevant.
• Over 10 years’ experience of carrying out programme baselines and research (Essential)
• Over 10 years’ experience and knowledge of participatory development and design of programmes and projects (Essential).
• Knowledge of Uganda country context (Essential).
• Experience of working with local communities, CBOs communities, CBOs, NGO’s and INGO’s
• Experience in the design and use of participatory methods for project design including ToC’s, MEAL framework and impact evaluations (Essential).
• Excellent writing, editing, attention to detail and organizational skills (Essential)
• Experience in working on progressive social movement building (e.g., social norms change, feminist movements, youth movements, SRHR movements) (Desirable)
• Availability and ability to travel within Uganda to facilitate the workshop in February (date to be confirmed) but most likely in the week of the 6th of February 2023.
