JOB DETAILS:
The Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery East Africa (AKU-SONAM EA) has delivered high quality, affordable and accessible work/study programs for nurses and midwives. The focus of the school is to develop nursing and midwifery graduates dedicated to transforming health and improving lives.

The school is one of the Aga Khan University's departments, alongside the Graduate School of Media and Communications, the Medical College, the Brain and Mind Institute, the Institute of Educational Development, the Institute of Human Development and the Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health.

The objectives of the school are, transformation through education, advancement through research, policy and practice, nurturing people, and environment, and investing in partnerships and service.

The school intends to conduct a mid-term review of its strategic plan, consider any new developments and emerging issues, and set targets for the remaining two years (2025 and 2026).

To achieve this, the school wishes to engage the services of a reputable consultant with a strong track record and technical expertise in leading development and review of strategic plans in the higher education sector with knowledge and experience of working with regulators.

Scope of the Assignment
The consultant through a consultative and participatory process shall undertake the following.
(a) Study the current strategic plan and other key documents for the school to specifically understand the activities and dynamics around the assignment.
(b) Conduct meetings with key stakeholders to gain additional insights into the process and deliverables.
(c) Facilitate/guide the development of new targets with a results matrix and key indicators of achievement of objectives during the staff and faculty retreat.
(d) Present the progress report, new targets and matrix to the school leadership and Technical Working Groups during the staff & faculty retreat in June this year.
(e) Guide the Technical Working Groups through the implementation process during the staff & faculty retreat and thereafter till the end of July 2024.
(f) Ensure high quality of work and timely deliverables.

Key Deliverables/Outputs
1. Project inception report
2. Comprehensive methodological work plan
3. Progress report on implementation of the strategic plan 4. Develop implementation plan/targets for the next two years.
4. Results Matrix/Monitoring and Evaluation framework with indicators for achievement of objectives.
5. Presentation of the progress report and targets for the next 2 years in the Staff & Faculty Retreat.

Management of the Assignment
The Consultant will work closely and regularly update with the Academic & Administrative Manager, Uganda and the Executive Officer, East Africa with guidance from the Dean, SONAM East Africa.

Qualifications and experience of the Consultant
The ideal candidate should have the following.
1. Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Management, Economics, Administration, Project Planning Management, and any other related field.
2. A PhD in a relevant discipline is an added advantage. 3. Training in higher education management is desirable. 4. Training in monitoring and evaluation is required.
1. 5. Proven experience in undertaking similar assignments (at least 10 years' experience) is required.

Required Submissions
The Consultant's submission should include.
1. A comprehensive profile indicating relevant experience in undertaking such initiatives in the higher education sector.
2. Evidence of similar assignments conducted in reputable organizations.
3. A brief concept/strategy and a detailed implementation plan on how to undertake the assignment.
4. A financial proposal detailing the cost of the consultancy.
