Job Purpose:
This job is to manage company data including collection, storage, and analysis. The data analyst brings technical expertise to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of that data, then processes, designs, and presents it in ways to inform the company’s business decisions.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Analyze data and interpret findings using statistical techniques to inform business units, strategic needs, support content development, and analyze trends.
- Manage data sets, including creation, development, updating, and implementation of databases.
- Support data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization by developing structures to monitor and validate data collected.
- Provide technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, data cleaning, and data analysis.
- Build internal capacity by training on data software, usage, and appropriate methodologies to ensure reliability and validity of collected data.
- Process data and information into insights to support decision-making.
- Assess and test system proposals and implement software upgrades.
- Generate reports from single or multiple projects (e.g., content management, financial, and marketing systems) to ensure compliance and inform strategic direction.
- Develop and design research tools based on organizational needs and advise on studies as required.
- Stay updated on current data development and management trends to deliver leading-edge solutions.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, or Mathematics.
- A Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management is an added advantage.
- Skills in qualitative methods are a plus.
Working Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
- Experience in data models and reporting packages.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and write comprehensive reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Technical:
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python), querying languages (SQL, Hive, Pig), spreadsheets (Excel), and statistical tools (SAS, R, SPSS).
- Behavioral:
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, self-driven, excellent organizational skills, and teamwork.
