JOB DESCRIPTION – Field & Customer Engagement Officer (20 Positions)

Position Title: Field & Customer Engagement Officer
Reports to: District Activation Officer / Regional Sales Coordinator
Location: Greater Kampala (Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Entebbe)
Employment Type: Full-time (Performance-driven)
Compensation: Basic stipend + commissions 

Purpose of the Role

To drive customer acquisition, retention, and product usage of A4C’s three core offerings — One-Off Member Subscription, Airtime Bonus Model, and Digital Marketplace — through direct field engagement (door to door), community mobilization, and personalized customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Customer Acquisition
    • Recruit and onboard paid members (UGX 121,600 subscription or installment plan).
    • Promote A4C airtime purchase & referral bonus model.
    • Educate customers on accessing and using the A4C Marketplace.
  2. Community Engagement
    • Organize and attend community meetings, SACCO gatherings, and local events.
    • Build partnerships with local leaders, youth groups, and business associations.
    • Represent A4C positively in every engagement, ensuring trust and brand credibility.
  3. Field Marketing & Activation
    • Distribute branded materials and run activation campaigns.
    • Set up demonstration booths in busy public areas (markets, transport hubs, universities).
    • Use persuasive sales pitches to explain product benefits in both English and local languages.
  4. Customer Support & Retention
    • Assist customers with app downloads, USSD access, and basic troubleshooting.
    • Follow up with customers to encourage continued use and referrals.
    • Capture feedback from the field to inform product and service improvements.
  5. Reporting & Performance Tracking
    • Submit daily activity reports on leads generated, sales made, and customer issues.
    • Track commissions and payments via A4C’s dashboard.
    • Meet or exceed individual and team KPIs set by the management.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum A-Level; Diploma or higher in Sales, Marketing, or IT is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Prior field sales, mobile money, airtime distribution, or community mobilization is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication in English + at least one local language in Greater Kampala.
    • Strong interpersonal and persuasive selling ability.
    • Basic smartphone operation & mobile app usage.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Goal-oriented, disciplined, self-motivated.
    • Comfortable working under performance-based targets.
    • High integrity and team player.

KPIs

  • New Paid Subscribers per Week: Minimum 60
  • Airtime Transactions per Day: Minimum 5
  • Marketplace Listings from Customers: Minimum 5 per week
  • Customer Retention Rate: ≥80% after 3 months of onboarding
  • Community Meetings Hosted/Attended: Minimum 2 per week

Growth Path

  • 6 Months High Performance: Promotion to District Activation Officer
  • 12 Months High Performance: Consideration for Regional Sales Coordinator role
