JOB DETAILS:
About the role
Mastercard Strive Community focuses on solutions that benefit the growth and financial resilience of small businesses around the world. The Grants and Operations Associate will empower the delivery of this work by supporting operations and the deployment of innovative digital projects around the world. This individual will be involved in end-to-end program management across our entire portfolio. This will include supporting the implementation of a new EU Innovation Fund and assisting in the delivery of existing global initiatives. A core part of this role will be ensuring best practice operational processes are implemented across all program activities. The role will include:

1. Program delivery for innovation funds and direct grants (working with Senior Manager, Programs and Senior Innovation Fund Manager):
• Help with processes across all stages of project management, from sourcing to shortlisting and selection - including creating relevant documentation - and implementation.
• Ensuring a smooth and constructive journey for applicants; this could include helping applicants to navigate the submission portal or incorporate feedback during the project development phase.
• Work with the Senior Managers and grantees to develop and agree on the project scope, milestones and budget for the contract.
• Track and review grantee deliverables, milestones and reporting, flagging to the Senior Manager any risks or changes.
• Help prepare program memos for the Strive Advisory Group.
• Provide timely input into slides, presentations and reports, including donor reports.

2. Delivering operational best practices and implementation support (working with Operations Director):
• Conduct due diligence on prospective grantees with support from Operations Director.
• With input from the Senior Managers, draft grantee contracts and amendments. Respond to grantees’ operational queries.
• Effectively manage grantee payments, including invoice processing and filing; updating trackers; and budget forecasting.
• Maintain the programme trackers, databases, and digital filing system.
• Coordinate the production of the quarterly donor reports.
• Coordinate the end-to-end supplier contract management, in line with the procurement policy, including managing the process for RFPs.
• Provide project management support to ensure Caribou Digital’s wider donor deliverables remain on track.
• Support the continued improvement and development of Caribou Digital’s project and grant management processes.
• Support the Senior Manager in the delivery of advisory support to Mastercard CFIG, including triaging support requests and co-ordinating lunch and learns.
• Other ad-hoc responsibilities to support the wider team, relevant to the role.

About You
• Circa 2-4 years experience in a similar role.
• You care about impact funding, community building, encouraging digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Experience working with start-ups and the impact investor ecosystem would be beneficial.
• Experience with grantee selection and management is a plus.
• A do-er, who sees what to do and makes it happen independently, which is particularly important as Caribou Digital is a fully remote organization.
• Experience in both public and private sectors is advantageous.
• Great broker of partnerships and relationship manager.
• An admin whizz who has high attention to detail will thrive in this role.
• You will be comfortable with numbers, and able to accurately maintain budgets.
• Ability to manage internal stakeholders and keep projects on track.
• Experience of working in the donor sector, understanding of grant governance and compliance.
• Experience of grant administration is a plus.
• Experience in working and delivering across teams, e.g. tracking projects and processes on software such as Notion, and working via Slack/Google Suite is an asset.
• Multilingualism always helps. Outputs and your day-to-day working life will be in English, but our grantees will be all over the world.
• This is a fully remote role, but you must be based +/- 3 hours of GMT.
• Willing and able to travel internationally at least 1-2 times a year.
• Respectful of everyone, everywhere, inclusive and supportive of colleagues, and fun to work with.
