Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and structured Head of Human Resources to lead the HR department in a complex manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience in Ugandan labor law, payroll compliance, and workforce management in large organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business and production goals.
- Manage full recruitment processes (sourcing, interviews, selection, onboarding).
- Oversee employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and terminations in line with Ugandan law.
- Draft, review, and manage employment contracts compliant with local regulations.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory obligations (NSSF, PAYE, and local labor laws).
- Supervise payroll processing and ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage and monitor time & attendance systems (biometric/software-based).
- Maintain HR records and reporting systems with strict control and accuracy.
- Lead performance management systems and workforce productivity tracking.
- Design and implement training and development programs.
- Support management in organizational structure and workforce planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s is an advantage).
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in senior HR leadership.
- Mandatory experience in large manufacturing companies.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan labor law and HR practices.
- Proven experience managing contracts, employee relations, and disciplinary processes.
- Strong expertise in:
- Payroll management systems
- NSSF and PAYE compliance and reporting
- Time & Attendance software systems
- Solid understanding of local employment practices and workplace culture in Uganda.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage large workforce structures with discipline and rigor.
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including night shifts when required.
