Job Purpose

The IT Security Officer will be responsible for safeguarding RTV’s information systems, networks, and data against internal and external threats. The role ensures compliance with security policies, implements risk management strategies, and supports the organization’s mission by maintaining a secure digital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1. Information Security Management
  • • Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • • Monitor and assess system vulnerabilities, applying patches and updates as required.
  • • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits.
  • 2. Mobile Application Security
  • • Oversee security testing for in-house and third-party mobile apps (Android & iOS).
  • • Implement secure coding practices and app vulnerability scanning.
  • • Coordinate remediation of identified mobile app vulnerabilities with development teams.
  • 3. Incident Response & Monitoring
  • • Lead security incidents incident response, including detection, containment, and post-incident reviews.
  • • Monitor alerts, investigate incidents, and coordinate responses across endpoints and user accounts.
  • 4. Network & Systems Protection
  • • Manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.
  • • Ensure secure configuration of servers, databases, and applications.
  • • Respond to and mitigate security incidents, breaches, or cyberattacks.
  • 5. Data Protection & Compliance
  • • Ensure compliance with data protection laws and donor requirements.
  • • Implement encryption, backup, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • • Train staff on data privacy and safe IT practices.
  • 6. Monitoring & Reporting
  • • Maintain logs of security events and generate periodic reports.
  • • Provide management with updates on emerging threats and mitigation strategies.
  • • Support audits and provide documentation for compliance reviews.
  • 7. Collaboration & Capacity Building
  • • Work closely with IT and program teams to integrate security into project systems.
  • • Provide technical guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity awareness.
  • • Liaise with external vendors and partners on security solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in IT security, preferably in NGO or development sector.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with cloud security and data protection frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
