Job Purpose
The Legal Officer will lead implementation of project activities within the assigned district, ensuring access to justice through legal representation, alternative dispute resolution, partnerships, and community engagement using a gender-responsive approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal aid services, including litigation, ADR, follow-up, and referrals.
- Identify and respond to client support needs using a gender lens.
- Develop and strengthen strategic partnerships within districts.
- Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and agreements.
- Monitor project interventions and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare periodic technical and activity reports.
- Support advocacy initiatives aligned to FIDA-Uganda’s mandate.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC).
- Enrolled Advocate with a valid Practicing Certificate.
- Diploma in Project Planning & Management (added advantage).
- Minimum 1 year experience in civil society or legal practice.
- Strong mediation, negotiation, arbitration, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
