Job Description

Main Purpose:

To manage and report on the device lifecycle for business in line with industry standards and best practice.

MTN Uganda Limited is an equal opportunity employer and is seeking to recruit a competent individual to fill the following position.

Job Title: Manager – Devices

Reports to: Senior Manager – Devices

No. of Vacancies: 1

Main Job Functions:

  • Review device performance (across all defined parameters) and give senior management with reaction actions that are consistent with established company objectives and goals, as well as prepare contingency plans as needed to address gaps or excesses.
  • On a daily basis, report to management (via device reporting and monitoring) on progress made vs target.
  • Work with the regional commercial leaders to spearhead the device sales strategy's implementation.
  • Determine the desired channel branding and visibility within device outlets.
  • Manage device specifications, customizations, testing, and onboarding processes, including the introduction of new device functionalities to the network.
  • Manage Device orders end-to-end including ensuring all necessary documentations and certifications are secured.
  • Conduct market survey to determine the preferred device specification as recommended by the consumers.
  • Ensure availability of a wide range of devices and adequate stock levels at all touch points
  • Execute strategic Partnerships with Original Equipment/Device Manufacturers (OEMs/ODMs) to drive device market share.
  • Lead device launches and relevant special projects in coordination with the internal teams.
  • Drive reverse logistics project including Device upgrades, Device Trade-in, Buy Back, Device Leasing, Device Refurbishment and Device Reuse.
  • Manage the reports and progress of the devices launched and provide the insight for devices.

Education

A minimum of bachelor’s degree.

Other Training:

  • Project, customer, and stakeholder management skills
  • Business Intelligence and Data Analytic skills
  • Report writing skills (MS PowerPoints, MS Word, MS Excel)

Work Experience

  • At least 5 years in a supervisory/management role in Telecoms marketing and/or Sales
  • Proven experience in driving device channels.
  • Experience in device specification development, device supply, retail/sales, support, channel development and problem management
  • Proven experience in customer management, market research, marketing strategy execution, and performance tracking

Skills & Attributes

  • A good understanding of systems, networks and mobile telecoms, mobile applications and mobile devices
  • Vendor or contractor management skills
  • Flexibility and Agility regarding working hours.
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Communication/reporting skills (verbal and written)
