Description

Job PurposeCareer counseling service

The role is responsible for the strategic management of Britam Uganda’s marketing function, brand visibility, and the development and enhancement of general insurance products and services to meet evolving customer needs.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and collaborating across departments, the role holder will lead the implementation of marketing strategies and business initiatives. The position is responsible for managing and coordinating the development, improvement, and innovation of insurance products and services, monitoring industry trends, evaluating market opportunities, and ensuring the successful execution of next-generation products and services that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for the company.
  • Oversee all marketing initiatives across the business.
  • Develop promotional materials to support business unit marketing activities.
  • Manage the effectiveness and productivity of marketing plans and projects.
  • Monitor market trends and opportunities and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Lead research, assessment, development, and improvement of new and existing products and services.
  • Develop and execute business marketing strategies and demand-generation programs.
  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates company products in the market.
  • Support sales enablement by communicating product value propositions and creating tools that support the sales process.
  • Plan and manage the launch of new products and coordinate cross-functional implementation.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for brand management, corporate identity, and brand growth.
  • Ensure effective internal communication of marketing objectives across the organization.
  • Develop a strong brand positioning strategy that differentiates Britam from competitors and enhances customer value.
  • Analyze consumer, category, and brand information to support channel marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Manage the company’s digital footprint and maximize value through strong media presence and engagement.
  • Monitor competitor activities across digital, print, and electronic platforms and provide business recommendations.
  • Conduct analysis of loss accounts and recommend strategies to improve customer retention.
  • Manage the marketing budget and ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
  • Deliver performance objectives as defined in the departmental Strategy Map, Balanced Scorecard, and Personal Scorecard.

  • Brand visibility, reputation, and market positioning.
  • Customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and cross-selling performance.

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional Marketing Qualification (CIM or equivalent).

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience within the financial services industry.
  • At least 2 to 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer literacy.
  • In-depth understanding of business operations and concepts.
  • General knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements.
  • General knowledge of general insurance systems, processes, procedures, and concepts.
