Scope of Work/Deliverables

1. Conduct a Marketing and Sales Needs Assessment

  • Meet with selected businesses (virtually or in person).
  • Identify gaps in:
    • Marketing knowledge, branding, tools, platforms, and reach.
    • Sales processes: lead generation, conversion, follow-up, pricing, and distribution.
  • Analyze customer segments, sales volumes, and retention challenges.

2. Develop Customized Marketing and Sales Strategies

  • Design affordable strategies for small businesses.
  • Include traditional and digital tools (e.g., social media, local radio, online shops).
  • Propose sales tactics: pricing models, bundling offers, referral programs, partnerships.
  • Ensure gender-inclusive messaging and representation.
  • Identify local and international market opportunities.

3. Create a Detailed Marketing Plan for Each Business

  • Provide a practical, step-by-step plan.
  • Include metrics to measure progress (e.g., sales growth, social media engagement).
  • Offer budget-conscious ideas for scaling marketing and revenue.
  • Highlight gender considerations in messaging and outreach.

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing, sales, business, communications, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification in marketing is a plus.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and sales, preferably for SMEs.
  • Experience with women-led businesses or gender-inclusive programs.
  • Knowledge of East African markets.
  • Strong communication skills in English (local languages are an advantage).
  • Excellent report-writing and planning abilities.
