Media Buyers are responsible for identifying and creating new opportunities for clients. This involves challenging briefs, acting as consultants, and leveraging insights to drive growth across the entire customer journey. They meticulously interrogate data, from technology infrastructure to content distribution, to uncover core problems and deliver broader, more impactful solutions. Media Buyers collaborate with clients to make informed decisions about media campaign execution, primarily focusing on orchestrating the strategic placement of advertising copy across various media venues (television, radio, billboards, print) to maximize advertising reach toward the client's target audience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Audience Identification: Identify the target audience for specific media campaigns and determine the most effective communication strategies.
- Industry Research: Stay updated with industry research figures, including distribution figures for newspapers and magazines, and audience figures for television and radio.
- Strategy Monitoring: Monitor buying strategies to ensure effectiveness and alignment with objectives.
- Relationship Management: Liaise and build strong relationships with media sales companies and agencies.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with media sales companies and agencies to secure the best rates and most appropriate media spaces for broadcast and print advertising.
- Schedule Adjustment: Communicate with the media team/agency to adjust media schedules in response to audience figures.
- Ad Booking: Book individual advertising spots, such as pages, posters, internet banners, and broadcast adverts.
- Accuracy Assurance: Ensure that adverts run accurately so the desired media message is seen and heard by consumers.
- Reporting & Budget Management: Prepare costings, produce spending updates throughout the campaign, and manage overall budget reporting.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze sales and consumer data.
- Research: Undertake research using a wide range of specialist media resources.
- Campaign Effectiveness: Analyze the effectiveness of campaigns and utilize this data to inform future strategies.
PROFESSIONAL, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Education: A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Communications, Business, Finance, or Marketing.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience managing implementations in an integrated agency environment, specifically handling advertising/branding.
- Communication: Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Tools Familiarity: Familiarity with all relevant implementation tools.
- Client & Team Dedication: Dedication to clients and team colleagues.
- Pressure Management: Ability to produce under pressure and manage timelines and production effectively.
- Work Ethic: Meticulous, organized, and structured approach to work.
- Multi-tasking: Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Proactiveness: Curious character, instinctively proactive, and believes in asking questions to get ahead.
