Position Summary
The Nursery Helper supports nursery teachers in delivering a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting in classroom activities, supervising children, providing individual support, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, and helping with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for early childhood development, be Jesus-centered, and work well in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Child Support & Supervision
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate learning activities
- Supervise children during class time, playtime, meals, and outdoor activities
- Provide individual assistance with tasks like feeding, toileting, and dressing
2. Classroom Preparation
- Help set up learning materials, toys, and supplies
- Ensure supplies are well-stocked and organized
3. Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Support diapering, toileting, and handwashing routines
- Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment
4. Administrative Assistance
- Record attendance and update child records
- Help communicate daily activities and concerns to parents
5. Transitions & Behavior Management
- Support children during arrival, departure, and transitions between activities
- Model positive behavior and teach appropriate social skills and conflict resolution
6. Parent Communication & Collaboration
- Provide daily feedback and build positive relationships with parents
- Work as a team with the nursery teacher and school staff to foster a loving, Christian-centered environment
Qualifications
- Certificate in Child Development or a related course
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a nursery or early childhood education setting
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles
- Basic classroom organization and child supervision skills
- Ability to support hygiene and health routines for toddlers
- Good communication skills for interacting with children, teachers, and parents
