Job Advert: Operations Manager – Microfinance Institution (Mukono)
Position: Operations Manager
Location: Mukono, Uganda
Employment Type: Full-time

On behalf of our client, microfinance institution we seek to recruit a highly competent, motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Operations Manager.
Job Summary
The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure efficiency in service delivery, strengthen internal controls, and lead teams to achieve portfolio growth while maintaining high-quality standards. The ideal candidate must be experienced in microfinance operations, credit management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily branch operations to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Oversee loan processing, approvals (within limits), disbursement, and collections.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and risk guidelines.
- Monitor portfolio performance and implement strategies to reduce PAR.
- Manage and mentor staff to achieve operational and performance targets.
- Coordinate customer service, client retention, and product delivery processes.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational reports.
- Lead internal audits, field visits, and compliance checks.
- Support development and rollout of new financial products.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Any degree (Degree in Business, Opereations Management or related field and professional qualification in accounting (CPA and Masters is addede advantage)
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in microfinance or banking operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Background in micrifinance
- Experience working with loan management software
- Strong understanding of credit management, risk assessment, and loan portfolio monitoring.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- High integrity, analytical mindset, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and microfinance management systems is an added advantage.
