The LWF Uganda Program is looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:

Job Title: Project Assistant

Reports To: Project Officer
Starting date: ASAP

Job Summary: Under the guidance of psychosocial Officer, the Project Assistant – Psychosocial will work with grassroot community structures in routine provision of counselling and psychosocial support to individual clients and their households and all persons with mental health and psychosocial needs through Community based psychosocial support approach(CBPS), interpersonal group therapy, self-help plus sessions and ensure peace building activities are carried out and peaceful co-existence promoted through conducting activities that enhance social cohesion and harmonious living.

Duties and Responsibilities.
• Liaising with and working in coordination with the relevant local authorities, community leaders, nongovernmental organizations, partners and other stakeholders where appropriate in order to achieve the project objectives and ensure that all project planned activities are implemented with expertise and within the allocated time frame and according to the work plan and donor guide lines.
• Collects and tabulates on a regular basis field data on project activities carried out using survey CTO as directed by the project officer and M&E.
• Conducts other assessments using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impacts of the project.
• Regularly visits all the beneficiary sites where all project activities are undertaken, checks on the progress, offers support as directed by the project officer in line with the project objectives.
• Conducts a daily assessment of persons we serve and ensure a variety of structured psychosocial interventions within the settlement, catering to the needs of persons we serve of different ages, genders, and abilities.
• Promotes case management for persons with mental health and psychosocial challenges, refers and follows up on the reception services, coordinates, consults and collaborates with other service providers.
• Conduct outreach activities and assists in the organizing and implementation of trainings.
• Supervises and supports community participation in refugee settlements and at all the sub-Program level for the effective implementations and coordination of psychosocial activities.
• Promote active community participation and involvement in specified project activities through involving beneficiaries and local leaders in the planning and implementation process.
• Train and mentor and supervise LWF community-based facilitators and community based psychosocial ambassadors and peace promoters in organizational policies, recreational and psychosocial activities implemented within the refugee settlement.
• Assists the project officer in preparing periodical work plans and reports on psychosocial activities and achievements in line with the requirements stipulated in the project documents.
• Ensure proper supporting documents (attendance lists with all the necessary activity reports and ensures timely accountability and closely follow up with field payments.
• Work closely with M&E team to monitor project performance and ensure proper documentation, filling and success stories documentation on each implemented activity in the project document.
• Conduct any other assignment as directed by the supervisor.

Other
• Performing any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor including delegation in support with the Project Officer or Sub Program Manager.

Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
• A minimum of a diploma/ degree in Counselling and Guidance, Community Psychology, social works and social administration from a recognized University/Institution.
• Past experience (at least 2 years) in implementing the same field with Interventions in refugee and development contexts.
• Special Skills, Aptitude or Personality Requirements
• Problem Solving and Decision-Making skills
• Ability to inspire and build capacity of national staff
• Good interpersonal skills and excellent negotiation skills
• Excellent English Language (both written and spoken)
• Information Technology (MS Office, Internet)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently
• Good team worker with good communication skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently.
• This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve
• results in a demanding and fast paced environment.
• Ability to ride a motorcycle and with a valid riding permit is desirable.
